In addition to my over 25 years as a professional trumpet player and recording artist , I have extensive experience as a teacher and  have successfully taught and teach all levels of players from beginners to professionals. I have also helped come back players from all walks of life to help improve their musical experiences. Having been a student of the trumpet, flugelhorn, improvisation and music composition for over 30 years now,  I am very confident that I will be able to help you to improve as a player. There is no one approach or method that I use to teach as I have learned to incorporate many different teaching ideas into my own personal teaching pedagogy. A few trumpet players that I have had extensive private studies with and who have had a big impact on my teaching and playing are William Fielder, Donald Byrd, Freddie Hubbard as well as Jerome Callet, Laurie Frink, and Jon Faddis.  Additionally, I have studied with saxophonists, George Coleman and Jackie Mclean, pianists, Jacki Byard, Walter Bishop and trombonist Ed Byrne. Recently I have created a series of play along mp3′s and PDF’s that will aid in the students development and success as a trumpet player and improviser. (click here for store) A big part of my teaching is based on using ones ears and learning to play from the “heart”.  Each lesson will be customized to each student’s needs, level and abilities and are dependent on their individual goals and aspirations as a player as no two students, players (or people) are exactly alike!
